Root Canal Therapy

ROOT CANAL THERAPIES

Endodontic therapies (root canal therapy) aims at saving a severely damaged tooth from being extracted.

Root canal therapy is warranted when a tooth is damaged either by disease, decay or injury and the tooth’s blood and nerve supply which is called the ‘pulp’ is damaged. Root canal is successful in most cases depending on the severity of the damage. If the prognosis of the tooth is poor; the only option may be to remove the tooth. If this is the case other options are available to restore the missing space: bridges or implants. Over a few appointments the tooth is dressed with special medications, the canals prepared, then filled with special materials to seal the canals. Dr Preketes will advise whether a core and crown is necessary to restore and strengthen the tooth.
